Trail mix
I love trail mix because it's portable (I have a bag in the diaper bag at all times) and it also has a lot of protein. If you mix dried fruit, nuts and seeds together you have a potent blend of vitamins that will keep your kids full longer. I made the holiday spice granola and used my leftover ingredients for this trail mix concoction, but feel free to vary the nuts and dried fruit with what you have available or with your kids preferences. It's cheaper to make you own trail mix as opposed to buying the ready made kind, and it gets your creative juices flowing.
1 cup walnuts 1 cup slivered almonds 1 cup pecans 1/2 cup pepitas 1 cup cranberries Put into a airtight container and shake like crazy to mix (this is my daughter's favorite part). Enjoy! |
